Written by Fabio Updated Feb. 26, 2024

Shanghai and Hangzhou are neighboring cities with close ties. Many people reside in Hangzhou but work in Shanghai, necessitating an early morning high-speed train service starting at 6:10 am. There are a total of 200 pairs of high-speed trains operating between these cities, offering ample options for passengers. Both Hangzhou and Shanghai have three high-speed railway stations, so make sure to board and disembark at the correct station.

Hangzhou is renowned for its scenic beauty, attracting visitors from Shanghai, particularly for day trips on weekends. Due to this popularity, weekend train tickets may sell out quickly. Additionally, from September 23rd to October 8th, Hangzhou will host the Asia Games, causing a surge in demand for train tickets from other cities. If you are considering traveling to Hangzhou by train during the Asia Games period, it is highly recommended to book your tickets as soon as possible.
